Fikret Shabani is a PhD student in the Information Systems and Management study program at the South East European University in Tetovo, where he also holds a Master’s degree in the field of software and application development. His Master’s research is focused on creating digital solutions for transparency and accountability in the control of drinking water quality in North Macedonia.

His entire professional career has been associated with the South East European University, where he has held several responsible positions since 2005. Since 2018, he has been the Director of the Department of Technical Capacities and Maintenance, with a focus on energy and infrastructure systems management, process digitalization, and development of internal technological solutions. Previously, as Head of the Academic Planning Office (2010–2018), he coordinated academic schedules, managed databases, and developed analysis and reporting systems. From 2008 to 2016, he was a member of the University Senate and part of several procurement and capital investment committees.

In the period 2021–2024, he was elected as a member of the Council of the Municipality of Bogovinje, where he actively participates in local development processes. Within the framework of projects of public interest, he also participates in feasibility studies for the digitalization of water metering, as well as in the project of the Center for the Development of the Polog Planning Region (CRPPR) for strategic planning, research and preparation of package projects for regional development.

A special focus in his work is the development of IT tools for the improvement of health services, by applying modern technological solutions for practitioners and public health institutions.

From 2011 to 2015, he was a co-founder and owner of a private company active in the domain of IT consulting, software development and education.

He has expertise in the field of software engineering, with experience in using various programming languages, databases, web and mobile technologies, as well as digital transformation and automation systems. He is fluent in Albanian (native language), Macedonian and English.
